Musculoskeletal Injection Clinic
Menu
Pioneer Health is pleased to offer patients a musculoskeletal (MSK) injection service. This service is open to Pioneer Health patients as well as patients referred from other practices. Currently the MSK injection clinic is run weekly by Dr David Tadj at Pioneer Health Albany. The following injections are offered:
- Occipital nerve injections
- Subacromial bursa of the shoulder injections
- Tennis elbow (lateral and medial epicondylitis) injections
- De Quervain tendon sheath injections
- Carpal tunnel injections
- Trochanteric bursa of the hip injections
To access the service we ask that you see your GP to confirm your diagnosis and refer you for the appropriate MSK injection.
The downloadable referral form is a two page document, with the first page used by your GP as the referral. The second page is an information sheet and consent form to be read and signed by the patient. We prefer that patients hand in, e-mail or fax the completed referral and consent forms to the Pioneer Health reception when you book your MSK injection.

Please note that injections provided at the Pioneer Health MSK injection clinic will be guided by anatomical land marks rather than ultrasound guidance. For the above injections, research has not shown that ultrasound guidance is significantly more effective than anatomical land mark guidance. If you prefer an ultrasound guided injection, please ask your GP to refer you to the local specialist radiology provider.
